T.P.O. Last Show Train

Besides the regular T.P.O.s of South Africa, some T.P.Os were established temporarily as a service to events and shows, e.g., War Train, Royal Visits etc. I have a cover dated 1968 for a show train, used to publicize South African goods. (regular T.P.Os stopped in 1950).

Does anyone know of any T.P.O.s after that?

This is a superb example. Wow! I don't care for the RSA period but that postmark changes everything.

I see it is included in Reisener's book. The Show Train started at the Rand Show and was supposed to travel the country but run out of puff at Kimberley due to a lack of support. What a pity. If there were thousands of these at knock-down prices I would not hesitate in buying one. Putzel does not appear to list it which is odd because he includes many references to Reisener's various contributions to his books.

Sorry, I can't answer your question. I do not have many TPOs, certainly none worth showing. I will keep an eye out for you.
