THE UNION OF SOUTH AFRICA’S FIRST STAMP
In this informative display, Russell Boezak concentrates on the origin, design and postal use of South Africa’s first postage stamp, the 2½d Opening of Parliament Commemorative of 1910. It provides the newcomer with a comprehensive introduction to this attractive stamp while also providing the critical specialist with a feast of detailed information.

NEW BI-MONTHLY SA STAMP E-NEWSLETTER –
STAMPS SOUTH AFRICA
A new generation of Young Turks at the PFSA, the Philatelic Federation of South Africa, looking to drag the organisation into the modern age. We wish them every success in their endeavours. The first of their initiatives is STAMPS SOUTH AFRICA, a bi-monthly neswletter edited by Hugh Amoore RDPSA. It aims to appeal to “collectors within the hobby of stamps”. STAMPS SOUTH AFRICA is a positive move to save our hobby. We recommend it to you.

CAPE OF GOOD HOPE
REVENUE STAMPS.
Part 1. The VOC 1711 – 1791
including British use to 1825
John Fletcher has written three books on Cape of Good Hope Revenue stamps. He now feels that “it is appropriate to allow access on-line to interested collectors and researchers”. We greatly appreciate his generous gesture which helps the South African Philately Club grow as free and unrestricted on-line resource open to all. John’s display is entertaining and educating. I was soon absorbed in it! I recommend his work to all who have an interest in the history of the Cape.

THE BARRED OVAL NUMERAL CANCELLERS OF THE CAPE OF GOOD HOPE
This monograph is a major study of the BONCs of the COGH 1863 – 1963. Previously only available for sale, its author, David Mordant, has generously allowed the South African Philately Club to make it freely available to all Cape Collectors as a PDF download. This is a marked improvement on Goldblatt, the ubiquitous BONC reference used by most Cape collectors.
CAPE TOWN STAMP EXHIBITION CANCELLED BUT BLOEMFONTEIN STILL LOOKS LIKELY
Sources advise that the Cape Town International Exhibition scheduled to be held from 9-13 November 2021 has been postponed till further notice. This has been confirmed by Paul van Zeyl who was to have attended it. Paul advises that the National being undertaken by the Orange Free State Philatelic Society in the Kopano Nokeng Conference Centre to the east of Blomfontein from 22-25 July 2021 is still on. “Hou moed en stuur voort manne!”
