Can anyone explain this card - recently listed on Delcampe.

The sequence of dates is hard to understand ...  is it the muddle of war, human error, or fakery?:

16 JUL 00:  Card posted from St GALLEN (Switzerland) to MIDDELBURG (Transvaal)

21-22 AUG 00  WATERVAL ONDER (three postmarks)

23 AUG 00  LAURENCO MARQUES

?31 AUG 00  DURBAN

1 SEP 00  MIDDELBURG

17 SEP 00 PRETORIA

?14 OCT 00 Press censor (ms)

The earlier part of the sequence suggests that the card got as far as Waterval Onder on 21/22 August and was then returned to LM and went to Durban.  But then what?  The simplest answer appears to be either that the Middelburg date is an error, or a fake.
