This is the last stamp issue of the Boer War.
The initials of the postmaster J. T. de V. ( J. T. de Villiers ) appear to the left of the face value and are in black, except for the value ½ d where the initials are on the right and in red.
Some sheets have been printed without initials. These sheets are to be considered as tests. Here are the different values issued and the number of stamps issued (approximately):
½ d. light green 4000
1 d. carmine pink 15000
2 d. red orange 4000
4 d. blue 1000
6 d. green 1000
1 Sh. yellow 1000
The stamps were cut with scissors, but there are perforated sheets of ½ d., 1 d. and 2 d. values. ( 11 ½ x 11 ½ ). Each sheet has 24 stamps, 4 horizontal and 6 vertical. The size of each stamp is 27 x 32 mm.

It is extremely difficult to find cancelled stamps because no letters have been distributed outside the district. The stamps cannot, however, be considered a local issue, as the isolated location of the Zoutpans Mountains district did not allow for mail to be delivered outside the district.

Quote from yannisl on August 30, 2020, 5:37 pmThanks for the post. They are hard to find signed, but full sheets exist unsigned. Also be ware of "Tamsen Covers." They are not genuinely used but philatelic.
I am sure there are more varieties that you have listed. Is the info from Mathews?
Here are some more. I never got down to writing them up, as I could not find reliable information.
